Man killed in motorcycle crash near Paw Paw

ANTWERP TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — A motorcyclist was killed in a Saturday evening crash near Paw Paw.

Around 11 p.m., deputies with the Van Buren County Sheriff’s Office were sent to County Road 653 near 52nd Avenue SE for a motorcycle crash.

Responding deputies learned that a 47-year-old Paw Paw man had been riding southbound on County Road 653 when the motorcycle drifted onto the shoulder. The motorcyclist hit a mailbox, causing him to fall off the bike.

The sheriff’s office said that he was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash and was found unresponsive.

He was taken to the hospital where he died, the sheriff’s office said.
