Man killed after dog attacks him in the Bronx; dog also killed: NYPD

THE BRONX, N.Y. (PIX11) – A man died while his dog attacked him in the Bronx early Friday morning, according to the NYPD.

Officers were called to a home on Simpson Street in Longwood around 3:09 a.m. When they arrived, they saw a pit bull biting a 41-year-old man in the neck and leg, according to authorities.

Officers at the scene shot and hit the dog multiple times in an attempt to get the animal off the man, police said. The dog was pronounced dead at the scene.

The man was transported to St. Barnabas Hospital where he was pronounced dead. The officers who responded to the scene were taken to a local hospital for evaluation, according to authorities.

It’s not known if the victim was shot while officers responded to the incident, according to authorities.
