Man killed after crashing into tree in St. James Parish

ST. JAMES PARISH, La. (WGNO) — A 35-year-old man was killed after crashing into a tree in St. James Parish on Monday, April 1.

The Louisiana State Police reports troopers responded to the crash around 3 a.m. on Louisiana Highway 18, just west of Louisiana Highway 20.

They found that Willie Pierre, of Convent, was heading west on the highway in a 2020 Chevrolet Silverado when he crossed the road to the left and crashed into a tree.

According to troopers, Pierre wasn’t restrained and suffered serious injuries. He was taken to a hospital, where he later died.

So far in 2024, Troop C has responded to six fatal crashes.

Toxicology samples were taken. The crash remains under investigation.
