Man hospitalized after motorcycle crash in Parsons roundabout

May 8—TRAVERSE CITY — A 26-year-old Garfield Township man crashed his motorcycle in a roundabout after a speeding pursuit, according to the Grand Traverse Sheriff's Office.

The motorcyclist was taken to Munson Medical Center by Mobile Medical Response; the extent of his injuries was unknown Tuesday night, according to a statement from the sheriff's office.

The motorcyclist's speed had deputies in pursuit from the intersection of Garfield and Boon roads to the roundabout at Parsons and Airport Access Road on Sunday at 8:20 p.m., Lt. Roy Raska said.

But when deputies clocked the man's speed at least 90 mph in a 45 mph speed limit zone, they turned off their lights and ended the chase, the release said.

Raska said deputies saw the man crash at the Parsons and Airport Access Road roundabout and called paramedics.

Deputies sent several charges from the encounter to the county prosecutor's office for further review, including fleeing and eluding, driving an unregistered motor vehicle and no cycle endorsement.
