Man falls out of car on I-270 in Gahanna

GAHANNA, Ohio (WCMH) — A man is hospitalized after falling out of his car Monday afternoon on Interstate 270 in Gahanna.

According to a city of Gahanna spokesman, Gahanna police officers responded to a call of a crash on I-270 South near Hamilton Road just after 5 p.m. At the scene, officers found a man standing in the road’s northbound lanes. When officers approached him, he ran, collapsing along the side of the road a few moments later, the spokesman said.

When officers caught up with the man, they determined he was suffering from a head injury and emergency crews subsequently took him to Ohio State University East Hospital in stable condition.

Witnesses who stopped at the scene told police they saw a vehicle driving north with a man matching the victim’s description hanging out of his convertible’s roof before falling from it.

According to the city spokesperson, the convertible the victim fell from stopped for a moment, and then drove off.

Officials are attempting to identify the man and contact his family. Traffic was backed up on the roadway for approximately an hour as police responded to the scene.
