Man dies in Oneonta motorcycle crash
Apr. 24—A man died in a motorcycle crash Monday, April 22 on East Street in the town of Oneonta, according to the Otsego County Sheriff's Office.
John Morgan Blatz, 68, of Box Elder, South Dakota, was operating a motorcycle with a sidecar traveling south on East Street.
After coming out of a curve in the road, the motorcycle and sidecar crossed the northbound lane of East Street, struck a lip of earth and overturned with the rear of the motorcycle striking a tree.
Emergency crews were dispatched at 4:30 p.m., Oneonta Fire Chief Brian Knapp said, and a child passenger was airlifted to Albany Medical Center.
The sheriff's office investigation into the cause of the crash is continuing.
