Man dies following LAPD SWAT officer-involved shooting

A robbery suspect was killed after an officer-involved shooting by a SWAT Team officer in Reseda.

Authorities say the incident occurred Friday at around 5:10 a.m. The Los Angeles Police Department’s SWAT unit was at an apartment building located in the 7900 block of Reseda Boulevard in Reseda.

Officers were there to serve a search and arrest warrant for a male suspect believed to be involved in a series of robberies.

LAPD says they made contact with the suspect — identified as Zeff Rocco — by phone and instructed him to come outside and surrender. Instead of cooperating, Rocco reportedly climbed over the apartment’s third-floor balcony while armed with a rifle.

He then jumped to the ground and lost control of his grip on the firearm. Authorities said the suspect immediately tried to retrieve the weapon, but officers opened fire and struck him.

Emergency responders were at the scene and transported Rocco to a local hospital, where he later died from his injuries.
