Man dies after single-vehicle crash in East El Paso

UPDATED: EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) – The El Paso Police Department identified the man involved in a fatal crash early Monday morning, April 29 in East El Paso.

Police said 32-year-old Pedro Negrete was killed in the crash that happened at about 2:20 a.m. along Interstate 10 West at Mile Marker 30.

According to EPPD preliminary information, Negrete was speeding on I-10 West when his 2014 Ford Focus veered right, striking the center median and a wrong-way traffic sign pole.

The vehicle hit another sign and was redirected northwest before stopping in the middle lanes on the 11000 block of Gateway West.

Negrete was partially ejected from the car, suffered severe injuries, and died at the scene.

EPPD believes speed is a contributing factor in this crash.

This is the 18th traffic fatality compared to 20 at this time last year.

EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — One man is dead after a single-vehicle crash in East El Paso Monday morning, April 29.

According to El Paso Police, the crash happened at the 11000 block of Gateway West.

All lanes of Gateway West were closed for several hours.

No further information has been released.
