Man in critical condition after crash with Escambia County deputy: FHP

ESCAMBIA COUNTY, Fla. (WKRG) — One man is in critical condition and another is in serious condition after being involved in a crash with an Escambia County Sheriff’s deputy, according to a news release from the Florida Highway Patrol.

According to the release, the crash happened at the intersection of State Road 95 and W. Hope Drive.

A vehicle with a 60-year-old driver and 59-year-old passenger was traveling north on State Road 95 when they were attempting to make a left turn onto W. Hope Drive, according to the release.

The ECSO deputy was traveling south on State Road 95 heading towards W. Hope Drive. The release said the first vehicle “failed to yield” to oncoming traffic when they made a left turn, which caused a collision to occur.

The front of the ECSO patrol car hit the back right side of the other vehicle, according to the release. The collision with the patrol car caused the first vehicle to rotate and come to a stop facing east in the intersection. The patrol car stopped facing south in the intersection.
