Man convicted of Lancaster County robbery found dead in state prison

LABELLE, Pa. (WHTM) – A man convicted of robbery in Lancaster County has been found dead in a state prison.

The Pennsylvania Department of Corrections says Aurelio Rivera-Lopez, 50, was found unresponsive in his cell at the State Correctional Institution at Fayette.

Life-saving measures were taken and Brownsville EMS arrived to continue medical care until Rivera-Lopez was declared deceased.

Rivera-Lopez had been convicted of robbery in Lancaster County and sentenced to serve 7-14 years in state prison. He’d been at SCI in Fayette since October 2023.

Pennsylvania State Police will investigate the death and a cause will be determined by the Fayette County Coroner’s Office.
