Man charged in March Wadesboro homicide

WADESBORO, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — Wadesboro Police arrested and charged a man in connection to a March 6 murder on Thursday.

In a social media post, officers say they located Dewon Rayquan Hailey at a Marshville residence Thursday afternoon and charged him with first-degree murder in the death of Jamarcus Daquon Sellers. They took Hailey to the Anson County Jail, and he did not get a bond.

Wadesboro Police worked with the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation, Union County Sheriff’s Office, Charlotte Mecklenburg Police Department, Greensboro Police Department, United States Secret Service, and the Marshville Police Department in the arrest.

During Thursday’s operation, East Union Middle School went on a soft lockdown as a safety precaution. The school lockdown ended when authorities took Hailey into custody.
