Man charged for allegedly stabbing person in the neck

CHARLESTON TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — Authorities say a man was charged for allegedly stabbing a person in the neck near Galesburg.

The Kalamazoo County Sheriff’s Office said it happened around 7:15 p.m. Monday on E. L Avenue near the intersection of 38th Street in Charleston Township, south of Galesburg.

The sheriff’s office said the suspect pulled out a knife during a physical altercation and stabbed the victim in the neck. The victim was taken to the hospital with injuries that the sheriff’s office said were not considered life-threatening.

The suspect, Felipe Hernandez, turned himself in at the Kalamazoo County Jail a short time later, according to the sheriff’s office. He was charged and arraigned on assault with intent to murder charge.
