Man breaks into Palm Harbor home, kills ex’s mother, then himself, deputies say

PALM HARBOR, Fla. (WFLA) — A man broke into the home of his ex-girlfriend’s mother and killed her before turning the gun on himself, according to the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office.

Investigators with the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office said they responded to a report of an armed person, potentially related to a domestic incident, at around 8:30 a.m. Tuesday.

Deputies said the two people were found dead inside the home suffering from gunshot wounds.

Stacey McLean, 52, was found dead in a bedroom, according to deputies. Darryl Serraj, 26, was found dead in a separate room of a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Deputies said Serraj was in a relationship with McLean’s daughter for five years and had recently ended. He broke into McLean’s home, killed her and then himself, according to the sheriff’s office.

Down the street from the scene, detectives were taking photos of a black Mercedes parked in front of another home.

An autopsy will determine the cause and manner of death.
