Man arrested on suspicion of arson in Tejon Ranch

A man was arrested Monday on suspicion of arson after a brush fire broke out near Tejon Ranch, according to the Kern County Fire Department.

Bakersfield resident Edgar Pendegua, 35, was booked into Lerdo Justice Facility around 11:15 a.m. on suspicion of two counts of arson to a structure or forest land, according to the Kern County Sheriff’s Office booking records.

According to KCFD, about 121 acres burned in a brush fire near Tejon Ranch west of Interstate 5. In the process of extinguishing the fire, a man was seen near the fire, according to KCFD.

Pendegua is scheduled to appear in court Wednesday for an arraignment, according to KCSO booking records. No charges have been filed by the Kern County District Attorney’s Office as of Tuesday morning.
