Man arrested in Lynchburg after shooting incident on Sandusky Drive

LYNCHBURG, Va. (WFXR) — The Lynchburg Police Department (LPD) says a man is facing several charges after a shooting incident early Friday morning.

Police told WFXR News that around 2:30 a.m. on May 24, officers responded to the 1100 block of Sandusky Drive for a report of a gunshot inside the house.

Once at the scene, police asked several people to exit the house, and allegedly found guns inside the home.

Police confirmed that 50-year-old Jimmie Richard, of Lynchburg, was arrested and charged with the following:

  • Reckless handling of a firearm

  • Shooting within the city limits

  • Brandishing a firearm

  • Unlawfully discharging a firearm within a building

He is being held without bond.

LPD says no one was hurt in this incident.
