According to police, the child died from his injuries five days later. Crimes Against Children investigators learned the baby had been in the care of 24-year-old Xavien Hogan.

After the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner determined the death was a homicide in April, an arrest warrant was issued for Hogan.

OKCPD says Hogan was arrested on Thursday, May 16, in east Texas by the U.S. Marshal’s Service.

“Any time you’re dealing with a tragic loss of innocent life, it can take quite an emotional toll,” said SSGT. Dillion Quirk with OKCPD.

Neighbors said they’re horrified by the tragedy.

“I’m shocked. I really am,” said Mary Allen, a resident.

Allen said she’s never heard anything like this happening near her home of 23 years.

“We got good neighbors,” said Allen. “It makes me angry.”

Now, Allen said she’s leaning on her faith to be able to cope with this terrible situation.

“It’s sad. What did the baby ever do to him? But be born and he didn’t ask to be born,” said Allen.
