Man arrested after allegedly trespassing into apartment: Mobile Police

MOBILE, Ala. (WKRG) — A man was arrested after he allegedly trespassed into a vacant apartment and was found with merchandise related to retail burglary, according to the Mobile Police Department.

Officers with the Mobile Police Department responded to the 1900 block of Brill Road at around 10:45 a.m. on April 18 after receiving reports of someone trespassing into a vacant apartment.

When officers arrived, they detained the suspect, identified as 23-year-old Demarco Markell Rayford of Mobile, and found merchandise on him that was tied to a recent retail burglary, an MPD news release said.

According to the release, Rayford attempted to escape while being interviewed by officers.

Rayford was arrested and taken to Metro Jail on charges of second-degree escape, third-degree burglary and third-degree criminal mischief.
