Man accused of trying to kidnap jogger at gunpoint in Arab

ARAB, Ala. (WHNT) — A man was arrested after being accused of trying to kidnap a woman by forcing her into his vehicle on Sunday.

According to the Arab Police Department (APD), the female victim was jogging on 2nd Avenue Northwest when a white Toyota Corolla driven by a male pulled up beside the victim around 5:15 a.m.

APD says that the victim relayed to them the suspect driving the car flashed a gun and demanded that she get into his vehicle. The victim ran away from the suspect, who then drove away.

Upon further investigation, officers were able to identify the suspect as 35-year-old Christopher Lee Gamel, of Joppa. Gamel was arrested and charged with kidnapping an adult for sexual assault on Monday around 10:15 p.m. in Albertville.

APD says that Gamel was taken to the Marshall County Sheriff’s Department and is being held on a $100,000 bond.
