Man accused of shooting at girlfriend and baby will be held until trial

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – Alijah Archuleta, facing charges of shooting at a woman while she was holding their baby, will be held behind bars. Archuleta’s girlfriend told police the two were having an argument on March 29 and he wouldn’t let her or their one-year-old child leave his car. After she got away, she says he fired off multiple rounds as he drove away, and returned to do it again.

The state filed for pretrial detention saying this is the third charge that Archuleta picked up this year and he’s had a warrant for failing to appear on domestic violence charges. Archuleta’s lawyers disagreed saying the victim in this stated the gun was not aimed at her or the baby. Judge Joseph Montaño granted the state’s motion.

Archuleta is facing two counts of aggravated assault, two counts of false imprisonment, child abuse, and shooting from a motor vehicle charges.
