Man accused of raping, choking woman in Longmont Thursday morning

Apr. 26—A man has been arrested and accused of raping a woman and choking her in a Longmont home Thursday morning.

Lucas Amundson, 33, is facing charges of attempted first-degree murder, first-degree assault, sexual assault, first-degree burglary, third-degree assault and two violations of protection orders.

Amundson is currently in custody and is set for his hearing on advisement today. He has not been set a bond yet.

According to an affidavit, at 7:18 a.m. Thursday, Longmont police were dispatched to a report of sexual assault.

After contacting the victim, police learned that on Wednesday evening the victim was with a friend in Lyons. Both of them awoke at 4 a.m. to the sound of the motorcycle engine revving outside. Camera footage from the home showed the motorcyclist taking photos of the vehicles parked outside and someone in the home identified the man as Amundson, knowing his ties to a motorcycle gang.

After the motorcyclist left, the woman then left and returned to her Longmont home where she fell asleep on the couch.

According to police, the woman said she was pulled off the couch and onto the floor by her wrists and then pinned on her right side to the floor. The woman reported that she was punched, kicked and hit with a helmet by Amundson, who she recognized. Amundson then reportedly pulled the woman's pants down and raped her.

The woman tried to run out her back door when Amundson came up behind her and put her in a chokehold with enough force that the woman stated she was unable to breathe and "felt like she was going to die." Amundson reportedly told the woman she was going to die and lifted her from the position to where her feet barely touched the ground.

According to the affidavit, Amundson then stopped choking the woman before hitting her again with the helmet. He then left the residence and took the woman's phone. The woman was able to drive to a store and call 911.

A forensic nurse examiner later ruled that the woman suffered serious bodily injury due to the attack. At the time of the assault, Amundson was restrained from the woman and her home under two protection orders.

Amundson has two other domestic violence related charges against him involving the woman this year, according to the affidavit and court records. He has previous motor vehicle cases out of Logan, Larimer and El Paso counties.
