Man with 3 lbs. of meth, loaded gun arrested in Sonoma Co. traffic stop

(KRON) — A man who had 3 pounds of methamphetamine and other narcotics packaged for sale in his vehicle during a traffic stop on Highway 37 was arrested Tuesday, according to the Sonoma County Sheriff’s Department.

At around 4:30 p.m., sheriff’s office detectives from the property crimes unit served a search warrant on Highway 37 at Lakeville Highway. Gerardo Carcano, 44, was contacted during the traffic stop, SCSO said.

A K-9 officer was used to alert detectives of the presence of narcotics. A search of the vehicle uncovered approximately 3 pounds of methamphetamine, 7 ounces of heroin and 1 ounce of suspected fentanyl-laced ecstasy, the sheriff’s office said. A loaded .38 special revolver was also located.

According to authorities, the narcotics and revolver were found in resealed food packaging to avoid detection.

Carcano was arrested and booked into the Main Adult Detection Facility for transportation of a controlled substance, transportation of a controlled substance for sale, possession of a controlled substance for sale, possession of a controlled substance while armed, felon in possession of a firearm and felon in possession of a firearm.

Bail was initially set at $30,000 before a bail enhancement raised that amount to $250,000, SCSO said.
