Oguzhan Cildir, 23, of Brighton, Massachusetts, was traveling southbound in a black Toyota Prius and struck a silver Toyota Sienna minivan and a white Toyota Tacoma pickup truck, according to Shannon Moss, the spokesperson for the state’s public safety department.

The pickup reportedly rolled over several times. Gloria Cascio, 53, the driver of the pickup, was pronounced dead at the scene. Her passenger, Vincent Cascio, 60, needed to be rushed by a LifeFlight helicopter to Maine Medical Center in Portland, where he is listed in serious condition, according to Moss.

Cildir was brought by ambulance to the hospital, where he was treated for non-life-threatening injuries, according to Moss.

The driver of the Toyota minivan, Troy Perrault, 51, of Old Orchard Beach, sustained minor injuries, according to Moss.

Police said a fourth vehicle, a gray Chevrolet Impala, was involved in the collision as the driver could not avoid the crash. The driver was not injured, according to the Maine State Police, which did not name the individual.

The collision shut down the southbound lane into the early afternoon, at one point backing up traffic for as far as ten miles, the state police said on its Facebook page. During this time, authorities redirected traffic to the exit in Kennebunk.

The highway opened back up at around 1:30 p.m.

Police said the crash remains under investigation.

Kennebunk Fire and Rescue, Wells Fire and Rescue, and the Maine Turnpike Authority all assisted at the scene.
