A lorry fire has closed a section of the M5 motorway on the outskirts of Bristol.

The vehicle caught fire on the Avonmouth Bridge between J19 for Portishead and J18 for the M49.

Northbound traffic was first held at around 15.10 BST, with southbound traffic then held at 15.25 BST, although the southbound carriageways have now reopened.

Traffic cameras showed a number of fire engines had responded to the incident.

National Highways has confirmed that Avon Fire and Rescue service crews were at the scene.
