‘I’m hoping that we find out who done it”: Three Kings of Peace buildings vandalized in Danville

DANVILLE, Ill. (WCIA) — Glass was shattered, furniture was broken and so was the spirit of one Danville organization.

The Three Kings of Peace are known for helping young people throughout their community, but now they’re asking for your help. For two nights in a row — they say their buildings have been broken into and vandalized. Now, it’s halting their progress and they don’t have time to waste.

“Somebody had come in here and just tore up everything, bust everything up,” said Edward Butler.

The two buildings were supposed to help uplift the community. They provided room for activities and storage, with plans to do more.

“We would have contractors come in to train the young men and the girls on how, you know, to be carpenters,” Butler said. “You know, electricians and technicians and learn some kind of trade.”

Now, instead of using money to expand, they have to use it to do more repairs.

“It’s just a shame that, you know, that this happened to us,” Butler said. “It’s kind of set us back now a little bit.”

And he says the timing doesn’t help. The progress being made was saving the buildings from being demolished by the city.

“It would make sense to make this whole area look good, and I don’t know why. You know, we’re not on board,”

Now to keep their mission, they need help keeping vandals out.
