ST. ALBANS, Vermont (WJW) – M. Emmet Walsh, a character actor known for his role in the 1982 film “Blade Runner” among hundreds of other appearances over the years, has died at age 88, according to reports.

As reported by Entertainment Tonight and other outlets, Walsh died from cardiac arrest at a hospital in St. Albans, Vermont, on Tuesday.

Born in Ogdensburg, New York, in 1935, Walsh has more than 200 acting credits listed on IMDB.

He was best known for portraying the Los Angeles police captain in the Harrison Ford-led “Blade Runner,” but also appears in the 1984 thriller “Blood Simple” and recently, the 2019 mystery “Knives Out.”

Walsh also made plenty of guest appearances in shows like “The Twilight Zone,” “Home Improvement,” “Little House on the Prairie” and “The X-Files.”
