It brings me no pleasure to report this, but Roger, the incredibly jacked kangaroo whose impressive musculature earned him global fame, has passed on to the great Outback in the sky.

The gigantic roo, whose cut physique put his fellow marsupials and humans alike to great shame, has died at age 12.

The Kangaroo Sanctuary Alice Springs in Australia’s Northern Territory announced the alpha male’s passing in an emotional Facebook post over the weekend.

“It’s a very sad day here today, for we have lost our beautiful boy Roger,” Chris Barns, the sanctuary’s founder, said Saturday.

Kangaroos are frequently quite large-and are known as proficient fighters. But Roger stood head and shoulders above the mob-a six-foot-seven, nearly-200-pound bruiser whose brawny physique made him a worldwide star.

Barns discovered Roger when the ripped roo was but a joey, who had been trapped in his dead mother’s pouch. From those humble beginnings, Roger-who was as ferocious as he was strong-went on to earn global fame after a video of him crushing metal buckets with his hands went viral in 2015.

“Ever since he was featured on TV and clips went viral, there’s been a lot of love and attention for him,” Barns told the BBC. “Now that he passed away, we are again getting a lot of attention and have received condolences from people around the world.”

The jacked marsupial had been a feared fighter in his prime-there’s no way in hell he’d have been stunned by a weak right hook like this glassjaw here-but had recently retired. After Roger’s peaceful passing from old age, Barns encouraged his many fans to “reflect on his life” and on Tuesday posted another video of the ripped roo in his younger days, warning him to get the hell out of his territory.

“We miss you so much Roger,” Barns wrote.

Roger is survived by his many wives and children-including his swole son Monty, who had recently become the alpha of the sanctuary after beating his old man in a kickboxing match-and his many adoring, comparatively scrawny human fans around the globe. He has been laid to rest in the sanctuary, which Barns founded more than a decade ago to give Roger a home.

Rest easy, big guy.
