Loved ones raise funeral funds for woman fatally hit by truck outside Kroger in Arlington

Loved ones of a woman who died in an Arlington parking lot accident are asking for help funding her funeral expenses and other costs to support her family.

A GoFundMe was organized for Linda Kay Brown, 62. She died Wednesday after being hit by a Ford F-150 as she was walking out of a Kroger store at 2350 SE Green Oaks Blvd, according to police.

Brown had two daughters, 11 grandchildren, and was a proud cancer survivor who was actively involved in the local cancer survivors community, according to the GoFundMe.

“We are grateful for the outpouring of love and support and are encouraged to hear what an impact she had on so many lives,” wrote Benjamin Wills, organizer of the GoFundMe.

Investigators think the driver of a 2007 Ford F-150 was traveling south in the parking lot toward the front entrance of the store, came to a stop, then turned to go eastbound, police said in a news release. As the driver was turning, the truck hit Brown, who had just left the Kroger and was walking in the parking lot, according to the release.

The driver immediately stopped and provided aid, police said.

The driver is not facing any criminal charges in the incident. Investigators do not think speed or alcohol were factors in the crash.

“We are praying for the driver involved, as well as her coworkers, many of whom were present for the incident,” Wills said in the GoFundMe. “We know this event was traumatic for many and we pray for healing for all those affected.”

Of a $10,000 goal, $1,530 had been raised as of Saturday.
