Louisiana Alzheimer’s Association supports bill that would create new LDH council

BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) — Alzheimer’s Association volunteers from across Louisiana are joining at the State Capitol Thursday, April 25 to urge legislators to support Senate Bill 46.

Advocates said the measure is critical in helping individuals impacted by Alzheimer’s and other dementia by ensuring it remains a top public health priority.

The proposed bill, authored by state Sen. Patrick McMath, would establish the Alzheimer’s and Related Dementias Advisory Council in the Louisiana Department of Health. The council would help find solutions to educate the public on dementia, strengthen the healthcare workforce, improve access and quality of care and support family caregivers.
