Lost Your Hair Tie? This Accessory Will Do the Trick

There is a black hole somewhere in the universe filled with lost hair ties. Keeping up with them seems pointless, but what’s a girl to do when she wants to pull her hair back? Here’s a stylish and effective solution we discovered backstage at Tibi‘s Spring 2017 show.

Hair It Is: Aveda Guest Artist Frank Rizzieri styled the models’ hair in sleek, low ponytails looped with belts. Yes, you read that right. He repurposed nylon and leather belts from Amy Smilovic’s runway collection to dress up the simple ponies. Genius.

Pro trick: Spritz brush with hair spray to help prevent flyaways and frizz. (Photo by Aveda)

After creating a center or side part, Rizzieri applied a split end repair serum and flat ironed hair to get it as straight as possible. Then he gathered locks into a low pony and wrapped the belt around to secure. A tiny boar bristle brush got a few spritzes of Air Control Hair Spray ($29) before smoothing through strands to tame flyaways.

We’ll never complain about losing hair ties again after learning this hack.
