Two new ‘Lord of the Rings’ movies by Peter Jackson, Fran Walsh and Philippa Boyens have been announced to hit theaters in 2026 with the return of Gollum.

A New Lord of the Rings film is set to grace our screens in 2026 with one original cast member announcing their epic return to the Oscar winning franchise tentatively titled Lord of the Rings.

The Hunt for Gollum, Warner Brothers Discovery announced on Thursday.

Two new movies are in the works from Sir Peter Jackson, Fran Walsh and Philippa Boyens, the trio said in a joint statement.

It is an honour and privilege to travel back to Middle Earth with our good friend and collaborator, Andy Serkis, who has unfinished business with that stinker.

Gollum initially circus, renowned for bringing the character of Gollum to life, was not intended to physically portray the creature, however, Jackson and the team who originally planned for Gollum to be fully CG I later changed their minds after seeing Circus's physicality in his vocal performance.
