Longtime Dale County coroner dies

DALE COUNTY, Ala (WDHN) — Former Dale County Coroner Woodrow “Woody” Hilboldt died Wednesday afternoon. He was 74.

Staff at Holman Funeral Home in Ozark tells WDHN Hilboldt died at his Ozark home after a long-term illness. He was surrounded by family and friends.

Hilboldt was elected as the Dale County Coroner in 2007 and again in 2010 after running unopposed. He served until 2023.

During his time as coroner, Hilboldt also worked as the funeral director at Holman Funeral Home.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, May 11, at 10:00 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church of Ozark.
