Logansport Police Department assists in locating missing person using drone

Mar. 26—Following contact from the Pulaski County Sheriff's Department, the Logansport Police Department assisted in locating a missing person using a drone last month.

On March 21, the Pulaski County Sheriff's Office was notified of a missing endangered 19-year-old male near Star City, who had been last heard from around 6:30 p.m., according to the office's Facebook page. He was believed to have been operating his red Honda ATV.

It was requested that the Logansport Police Department utilize their drone, which has a thermal camera, to search for the person, a press release from the Logansport Police Department reads. They arrived on the scene at approximately 11 p.m.

After initially searching an area, it was discovered the male was within a mile of their location. The drone team repositioned and within a short time, they were able to locate the missing person in a secluded wood. The team radioed to ground units and walked them to the area of the missing male, where he was then transported back to the staging area.

He was examined by Cass County EMS and treated for cold related injuries. The Pulaski County Sheriff's Office says he was located at approximately 12:45 a.m.

All agencies included in the search were Pulaski County Sheriff's Department, Cass County Sheriff's Department and the Logansport Police Department.
