Locals, visitors celebrate total solar eclipse in Conway

CONWAY, Ark. – People from across the United States were in Conway Monday afternoon for the total solar eclipse.

The University of Central Arkansas hosted a watch party at Estes Stadium. School leaders said people from more than 30 different states were in attendance.

Totality hit at around 1:51 p.m., and the crowd went silent, taking in the once in a lifetime event.

“I was in awe. It looked cooler than I ever thought it would have,” Max Lewis from Alabama said.

“It was life changing. I got chills the whole time,” Chrysanthe Frangos from San Diego said. “It was unlike anything I have ever seen before.”

UCA hosted the event alongside local vendors and food trucks. There were outdoor games for kids and scientists on standby to answer any questions.
