Locals, Little Rock Animal Village staff looking to find path forward for Neapolitan mastiff Eleanor

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – Animal lovers advocating for a large dog recently taken to the Little Rock Animal Village say they’re hopeful they’ll soon find a solution.

The group of women who found the dog, a Neapolitan mastiff they’ve named Eleanor, says the Animal Village and a mastiff rescue organization are working to find a path forward on whether to put her up for adoption or let the Animal Village keep her.

This breed of dog is very expensive, and ideally, they would like to find the owner.

Tracy Roark, the manager of the Little Rock Animal Village, said they’re taking their time before making any decisions on the next steps.

“We’re just looking what’s best for, her number one,” Roark said. “I want to make sure there’s not an owner out there looking for their dog.”

The Little Rock women looking to help Eleanor and pushing for her release said that by going through a mastiff rescue organization, they’re confident they can find her a long term home with a family who is familiar with this breed of dog.
