PCSO gets grant funding

NEW LEXINGTON − The State of Ohio recently announced nearly $5 million in federal Edward J. Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grants to help community prevent and county crime across the state. The Perry County Sherriff's Office Activity Center is receiving $7,293.67 for computer upgrades.

Blood drives planned

ZANESVILLE − Several Red Cross blood drives are scheduled for the local area.

Drives will be from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Nov. 23, 1 to 7 p.m. Dec. 5 and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Dec. 12 and 15 at Trinity United Presbyterian Church; 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Nov. 28 in the Muskingum University gymnasium in New Concord; 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Nov. 29 at the James Singer Activity Center; and noon to 6 p.m. Nov. 30 at North Terrace Church of Christ.

Drives in Perry County will be from 7:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Nov. 22 at Miller High School in Corning, 7 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Dec. 3 at the Thornville Masonic Lodge and 1 to 7 p.m. Dec. 15 at the Somerset American Legion.

Drives in Morgan County will be from 1 to 7 p.m. Dec. 7 at Stockport United Methodist Church and 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Dec. 8 at Morgan High School in McConnelsville.

T. Graham Brown performing for OVO

MCCONNELSVILLE − Christmas with T. Graham Brown will be at 6 p.m. Dec. 3 at the Twin City Opera House, 15 W. Main St., McConnelsville.

Graham had a string of 13 top 40 hits on country music radio from 1985 to 1990. Number one songs include "Hell and High Water," "Don't Go to Strangers" and "Darlene."

City trash collection running regular schedule

ZANESVILLE − The City of Zanesville sanitation division has announced no delays in the service for the Thanksgiving holiday. Trash and recycling collection will be normal for Thursday and Friday.

Museums to hold holiday events

NEW CONCORD − Open houses will be from 5:30 to 8 p.m. Nov. 28 at the John and Annie Glen Museum in New Concord and 1 to 4 p.m. Dec. 4 at the National Road and Zane Grey Museum in Norwich.

The Glenn Museum event coincides with the New Concord Christmas Parade and will feature the museum decorated for the holidays, John Glenn's Lionel Train on display and serving of hot chocolate and cookies on the front porch.

The National Road Museum will feature a decorated tree, music by JG Company and Friendship 7 Sweet Adeline's and refreshments. Sounds of the Season Along the National Road will also be from 6 to 8 p.m. Dec. 6 with the John Glenn High School's String Sounds and refreshments.
