Local landscapers lend a helping hand during storm cleanup

ESCAMBIA COUNTY, Fla. (WKRG) — By just taking a look at where a tree came down on Denver Avenue during Wednesday’s storms, you wouldn’t have even known there’s a home there.

That all changed when Michael Walders and his team arrived ready to get to work.

“Just helping out, the storm came through and blew a bunch of trees over, blocking people to their house.” Michael Walders, the owner of Walders Lawn Maintenance, said. “Just trying to help out you know.”

With each cut of a branch, the house started to become more visible. But the resident wasn’t even home.

He has no idea Walders and his guys are out there, working through the damage.

“Big tree,” Walders said. “Big tree fell right in front of, you couldn’t even see the house. But hopefully, he can be able to get to it now and be able to take care of what he needs to take care of.”

As they work to clear the tree, it’s unknown how much damage was done to the house.

“A knocked antenna tore the roof up a little bit and knocked all the electric wires down I think, but I don’t know really how bad it’s done, probably done a little bit,” Walders said.

But for Walders, it’s all about being a good neighbor.

“Just trying to help out,” Walders said. “You know that’s the field that I work in, so figured I’d help out when I can. Maybe it’ll come back to me.”
