What to know about Macon voting results the morning after Election Day

Unofficial results are in for Macon-Bibb County elections after data from all precincts was sent to the Georgia secretary of state Wednesday morning.

Voters in Bibb County were tasked with voting for mayor, sheriff, one school board seat and several county commission seats, as well as one partisan legislative seat.

Here’s what to know about results.

Macon-Bibb County Commission has run-offs

Two seats on the Macon-Bibb County Commission will be decided by run-off next month after candidates failed to get a majority of the vote.

Seven seats were up for grabs, and a handful had decisive winners Tuesday. But crowded candidate fields in District 3 and District 8 led to two candidates in each district needing to compete again next month. Read about county commission results here.

Macon mayor gets another term

Incumbent Lester Miller succeeded in his effort to get a second term in office as Macon-Bibb mayor Tuesday, pulling in more than 80% of votes, according to results from the Georgia secretary of state. Read here about what Miller wants to accomplish in his second term.

Bibb County sheriff gets majority of votes

Sheriff David Davis was able to eclipse the needed 50% mark to avoid a run-off, despite having three challengers against him Tuesday. Davis got about 58% of the vote. Read here about his plans for his next term.

One contested board of education race

Macon-Bibb County had one race with multiple candidates on the Board of Education, and the incumbent scored a decisive win. Kristin Hanlon got about 68% of the vote to retain her District 3 seat.
