Little Rock Police Department, families remember fallen officers

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – Tuesday was a day when many gathered to honor the fallen in Little Rock.

The Little Rock Police Department and family members of fallen officers gathered Wednesday to remember the sacrifice of those who laid down their lives for the communities they served.

Thousands honor fallen officers in D.C. during National Police Week

The names of 23 officers who died in the line of duty were read as a bell rang for each one.

Some family members mentioned the call to service that their loved ones answered and died for.

Little Rock Police Chief Heath Helton said it’s that level of service that lives on and must always be acknowledged.

“It means everything,” Helton said. “It reinforced the honor, the respect, the nobleness of our profession and everything. It means to give back to your community and be part of our community.”

Biden pays tribute to fallen officers

Wednesday’s ceremony was one of many nationwide honoring men and women in uniform who gave their lives in service to others as part of National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Week.
