Little Rock Master Plan focuses on bringing more housing to downtown

LITTLE ROCK, Ark.- After seven months of planning, the Little Rock Master Plan draft is finally here.

Little Rock Downtown Partnership leaders say the planners have talked to residents to get feedback on what’s needed to help the city grow, and housing has been a main focus.

“We have far less residential density than our pear city’s,” Kyle Lenenberger with LRDP said.

He and planners said there is plenty of state and city-owned land going unused, but soon that could all change, making some downtown residents and business owners happy.

“The big difference between living in a suburb and living downtown is that you really get to connect with your neighbors,” Everett Gooch said.

Gooch is one of the many workers that live downtown and he said more housing is something he supports for the master plan.

“It’s a fun experience and I wish more people could experience it,” Gooch said.

Business owners like Gianni Bruno say he’s looking forward to the growth.

“I might have to expand if that were the case, and I think that would be great for business for all these restaurants down here,” Bruno said.
