Little Rock being affected by nationwide lifeguard shortage

With drowning being the number one cause of death for children ages 4 and under, it is important that we combat the shortage by getting more certified lifeguards.

Coach Karen Lamoreaux said the target age range for lifeguards is recent graduates from 18-21 and many of them were trapped inside during the pandemic, and the last thing on their minds now that they are finally free is work.

Lomeaux said they are working on community advocacy and projects to try to get the word out for the need for more lifeguards, but it will take help from the community to increase these numbers.
