Little Rock airport commission approves $24,000 bonus to late Bryan Malinowski’s estate

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – The Little Rock Municipal Airport Commission voted Tuesday to provide a bonus to the airport’s late executive director who died following a shootout with federal agents.

Board vice chair and treasurer Patrick Schueck said it was in keeping with the commission’s practice as he moved to give the late Bryan Malinowski a $24,000 bonus.

Malinowski, who was the executive director for the Bill and Hillary Clinton National Airport, was injured in a shootout with Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives agents who were enacting a search warrant at 6 a.m. at his Little Rock home on March 19. He died March 22.

“In light of our historical practices, Commissioner [Bill] Walker, I move that we give Bryan Malinowski a bonus of $24,000 as is standard practice with our employees,” Schueck said in making the motion.

Prior to making the motion, Schueck cited Malinowskis’ “very productive year,” which included a contract for the expansion of the Falcon Jet facility and acquiring funding for a canopy that will extend out from the terminal over arriving vehicles.

The motion passed unanimously with no discussion.

According to the ATF search warrant affidavit, Malinowski had been selling guns without the appropriate license. The affidavit states Malinowski had purchased 150 guns between May 2021 to February 2024 and operated as a vendor at gun shows.

Also at the Tuesday meeting, the board approved giving a pay raise to the airport deputy director and interim executive director Tom Clarke, who had assumed the interim role on March 19. The board also approved using a search firm to find a new airport executive director.
