Little Apple Toyota donates to upgrade Onaga HS weight room

MANHATTAN (KSNT) – One car dealership is helping grow the student body of a rural northeast Kansas school in a very literal way.

Little Apple Toyota in Manhattan donated around $5,000 to Onaga High School to buy new weight room equipment. Monday, April 1 some students went to the dealership to meet the donors.

Some of the weight racks are as old as the weight room itself, about 30-years-old, so everyone agrees it’s time for an upgrade.

“Facilities are important when you’re playing, you know, any type of sports and just having the proper equipment and up to up to date state of the art equipment will help the in their endeavors,” Little Apple Toyota Sales Manager Ray Chase said.

“We had gotten some upgrades on our own, just doing some fundraising and stuff like that,” Onaga High School Baseball Coach Adam Kufahl said. “But we were really hoping to get at least one more big piece of equipment. And with what Little Apple Toyota did, we were able to get all three of the things that we needed. So they really stepped up to the plate for us.”

The new equipment is expected to be installed and ready to be put to use by the end of the month.

This is all part of a larger $21,190 donation Little Apple Toyota made to the Caring Community Foundation through their Care Catalog that supports smaller communities in northeast Kansas.
