NEW YORK (PIX11) — An overnight storm left chaos in its wake across the tri-state area and caused several schools to close or delay openings on Thursday.
Showers continue to drench NY, NJ as overnight storm tapers off
Heavy rain and strong wind pounded New York and New Jersey Wednesday night, causing downed trees and power lines. Showers were expected to continue throughout the day Thursday.

Arlington Central School District: 2-hour delayed opening
Byram Hills Central School District: 2-hour delayed opening
Edgemont School District: 2-hour delayed opening
Highland Falls-Fort Montgomery Central School District: 2-hour delayed opening
Kingston City School District: 2-hour delayed opening
New Paltz Central School District: 2-hour delayed opening
Newburgh Enlarged City School District: 2-hour delayed opening
Onteora Central School District: 3-hour delayed opening
Poughkeepsie City School District: 2-hour delayed opening
Rondout Valley Central School District: 2-hour delayed opening
Wallkill Central School District: 2-hour delayed opening
New Jersey
Leonia School District: Leonia Middle School is closed due to wind damage, closed roads and exposed power lines
