LIST: Memorial Day events to honor service members in St. Louis

ST. LOUIS — Memorial Day is a federal holiday held on the last Monday in May and it is the day to honor fallen men and women who served in the military. Across the St. Louis area and surrounding communities, various events and ceremonies are scheduled to commemorate this important day.

From grand openings and parades to ceremonies and family-friendly activities, there are many opportunities to participate and pay tribute to our fallen heroes. Below is a list of Memorial Day events happening in the region from Saturday, May 25 through Monday, May 27, 2024.

Memorial Day Events – Saturday, May 25, and Sunday May 26

  • Citygarden Expansion Grand Opening

    • Location: Downtown St. Louis’ Gateway Mall Time: 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

    • Details: Free celebration with music, food & ice cream trucks, giveaways, exclusive merchandise for the first 2,500 guests, and new art installations.

  • Missouri’s National Veterans Memorial Displays

    • Location: Perryville, MO

    • Time: 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

    • Details: Display of collected tributes and mementos left at the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall.

  • Frank Holten State Park Event

    • Location: E. St. Louis, IL

    • Time: 3:00 p.m.

    • Details: Music, food, and activities hosted by Curtis “Boogeyman” Soul, with special guests including State Representative Kevin Schmidt.

  • Jefferson Barracks Memorial Event

    • Date Sunday, May 26

    • Location: St. Louis, MO

    • Time: Starts at 11:30 a.m.

    • Details: Scouts placing flags at gravestones with a processional and ceremonial activities.

  • Saint Charles Memorial Day Ceremony

    • Location: Veterans Memorial, Bishop’s Landing, Saint Charles, MO

    • Details: Featuring Mayor Dan Borgmeyer as keynote speaker.
