Line Mountain High School students told to 'get ready to take flight' during graduation

May 24—LINE MOUNTAIN — On a sun-filled 75 degree Thursday evening, 90 Line Mountain School District seniors took to their high school football field for the last time to receive their diplomas.

The 90 graduates walked across the field to standing ovations from friends and parents.

"Life is a roller coaster and it could be scary at times, and very fun at times," senior class President Paden Swinehart said during his farewell speech. "Stay on the ride. Today is not goodbye, but instead it is until we meet again."

Class Valedictorian Queenlyn Zartman told her fellow graduates she knows no better than any one of her classmates, but offered one piece of advice.

"Take one day at a time," she said during her speech. "Don't wish your life away and live in the moment."

Salutatorian Chloe Masser agreed and said she also had some advice for the class of 2024.

"Try something new," she said. "Get out of your comfort zone."

High School Principal Dwain Messersmith said he was impressed with the class of 2024 and had a great year watching them interact, study hard and have fun at various school events.

"This is one of the most academically strong classes," he said. "I had a lot of surprises through the year and I want you to know you will always be an eagle, so get ready to take flight."

Superintendent Dave Campbell accepted the class of 2024 and also praised them for staying focused through the school year.
