Lightning strike evacuates Mark Twain Elementary School

CARTHAGE, Mo. — A lightning strike forces a Carthage elementary school to take precautions.

Administrators say during Thursday morning’s storm, lightning struck Mark Twain Elementary School.

As a precaution, the building was evacuated while the fire department made sure the building was safe. Then, students and staff were taken to the storm shelter classroom until district maintenance determined it was okay to return.
