Internet sleuths are helping a single mother in Massachusetts in locating her ne’er-do-well husband, who allegedly “ghosted” her while she was pregnant with their second child.

Ashley McGuire took to the Facebook group “Are We Dating the Same Guy?” to ask fellow members for help in locating her departed (but presumably still living) hubby.

“This is my husband,” McGuire began the post, which included several pictures of her and a person she identified as Charles. “He loves to be the center of attention, but I’m not sure how much he’s going to like this."

“Last year, when I was pregnant with our youngest baby, he decided being a husband and a dad wasn’t the lifestyle he wanted anymore and he ghosted, like gone without a trace,” the mother of four explained. “He has one baby he hasn’t seen in over a year, and one he’s never met."

“He’s moved somewhere out of state and changed his phone number,” McGuire continued. “Divorcing someone who’s completely unreachable is really tough and drawn out, so I’m trying to track him down to get his signature on a few papers so I can finally close this chapter and move on with my life.”

Explaining that her ex was “British and charming AF,” McGuire told readers it's likely he's now “working in the hospitality industry somewhere” and living under the name of Charlie.

“He’s probably never mentioned having a wife or kids back in Massachusetts,” she surmised. “If you know him, if you’re working with him, can you please have him get in touch with me or let me know where I can find him. A friend of a friend of a friend has got to know where he is.”

Armchair detectives immediately jumped into action. With the help of a Shout Out L.A. article that seemingly identifies McGuire’s ex, many do-gooders proceeded to track down the man’s Twitter and Bumble accounts. On Reddit, a number of people who claimed to have worked for Charles agreed that he was “an a--hole.”

“He closed up his restaurant without notice and skipped town,” Reddit user @thatsasagittarius wrote. “Workers were showing up and people with reservations and gift cards. He's a loser.”

A TripAdvisor page which appears to have been created for Charles’ former restaurant likewise features a number of scathing reviews by customers who reported making a reservation only to arrive to find a shuttered establishment.

Eventually, McGuire dropped into the comments of her post to offer an update. “I’ve had a few girls he’s been involved with reach out to me after they found out about me through social media or however else,” she wrote. “They’ve been pretty spread across the country, though.” Despite the difficulty in locating him, McGuire said she was “willing to bet he’s alive” based on the evidence.

McGuire also revealed that, before he split, Charles had been acting as a stepfather to her two children from a previous relationship in addition to the two children they conceived together.

TikToker Jay Megan quickly deduced that Charles had been featured on the popular cooking competition show Chopped. She claimed to have spoken with former employees of Charles, who claimed that when he abandoned his restaurant, he cut all of the employees bad checks. She also said she found the Bumble profile of someone who matched Charles’ description.

Several hours after her original post, McGuire made a separate breaking news update regarding the search for Charles. “I’ve gotten MORE than enough information to locate him,” she said. “I have literally thousands of messages to sort through, some with information and some with support, and I appreciate all of them.

But McGuire made sure to specify that she doesn't want to bring any particular harm to Charles’ person or reputation. Rather, she wants to move on with her life as quickly and quietly as possible so she can focus on raising her children.

“Please know I truly do not wish him any type of ill will. I sincerely appreciate all of your support, but please do not make threats, spread hate, or try to go out and locate him,” McGuire pled. “Truly, I only want to see the situation resolved so me and my children can restart our lives and fix the damage done.”

McGuire has yet to offer another update, but it’s safe to say the search for Charles continues.
