The future of fast food is here, and according to Boston Market it's… chicken nuggets?

Since its debut in 1985, Boston Market's signature dish has always been rotisserie chicken, and in many ways, its menu hasn't had to compete directly with traditional fast food chains. It's not like customers can head to McDonald's to grab meatloaf and mashed potatoes. But today, Boston Market clearly put the Golden Arches and other burger joints in its sights, combining their main menu item with a common fast food staple to create Rotisserie Chicken Nuggets.

Billed by the brand as "the future of nuggets," these roasted-not-fried nuggs — which should be available at all 315 Boston Market locations nationwide — are described as "a healthier grab-and-go meal option that currently does not exist in the market." The 100-percent all-white meat, bite-size chicken pieces are cooked in the same rotisserie oven as the full chickens and will be available in two flavors: signature or spicy. Additionally, Boston Market adds that "no two are alike" — a clear jab at McDonald's McNuggets which famously are pressed into one of four specific shapes.

"The Rotisserie Chicken Nuggets will set the new standard for nuggets," Jay Pandya, president and chief rotisserie expert for Boston Market, stated in the announcement. "They are bigger than our competitors, healthier than fried alternatives, and packed with flavor — there is no other true rotisserie option on the market."

In a further suggestion that this menu item is a significant shift for the chain, Pandya later added, "These nuggets are our first hand-held option meal, so there's no need for a knife and fork and guests can enjoy our signature rotisserie chicken on the go." They're even served in their own specially designed "nugget cup."

The high-class nuggs can be purchased in a variety of options. On their own, a five-nugget Small with a dipping sauce starts at $3.30 while an eight-nugget, one-dipping-sauce Medium starts at $5.20 and a 12-nugget, two-dipping-sauce Large starts at $7.65. They can also be bought as a large, small, or kid's combo meal. Finally, an 80 nugget catering platter with ten dipping sauces is also available, starting at $59.99 — just in case Boston Market Rotisserie Nuggets are what you've been dreaming of your entire life.
