Libya: US consulate comes under attack; no causalities

TRIPOLI, Libya - A Libyan militia commander says assailants have fired a rocket-propelled grenade at the U.S. consulate in the eastern city of Benghazi.

Abdel-Basit Haroun, a militia commander in Benghazi who is co-operating with the government to restore security, says the consulate came under attack Wednesday morning but no casualties have been reported.

No further information is immediately available.

Libya's new rulers have largely failed to impose law and order in the oil-rich North African nation since rebels toppled longtime dictator Moammar Gadhafi last year.
