Leonardo DiCaprio Lists Silverlake Spanish-Style Home for $1.749 Million

Leonardo DiCaprio is nothing if not a generous actor. The Hollywood leading man, who is currently filming Quentin Tarantino’s ensemble crime mystery Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, reportedly purchased a 3,560-square-foot abode in the hills just above Los Angeles’s Silver Lake Reservoir for a family member some-20 years ago, shortly after he shot to superstardom for his turn as Jack in 1997’s Titanic. Now, DiCaprio has listed the Spanish-style home for a reasonable $1.749 million — reasonable, given that he paid just under $770,000 for the hacienda-inspired villa two decades ago. The four-bedroom, four-and-a-half-bathroom home, originally built in the early 1930s, sits on a .15-acre lot and is partially hidden behind a number of trees and shrubbery, not to mention a gated courtyard (perfect for privacy). Through the imported carved wood front door is a cozy foyer that steps down onto an airy living room with wooden floors. A tile fireplace anchors the space, with French doors on two opposite sides of the room opening out onto the side garden and to the rest of the home, respectively. The formal dining room to the other side of the foyer features a parquet wood floor, and leads directly into the kitchen, which is outfitted with white-and-blue ceramic tiles that could use some updating. Elsewhere on the ground floor is a library/study with double sets of French doors leading out to the backyard.

The master suite is expansive in size, featuring space for a sitting room with a fireplace and several pointed arch display niches and doorways, one of which leads into a walk-in closet and bathroom. One of the property’s bathrooms also features uniquely emerald-green and black vintage tile work, with a black standalone sink and deep soaking tub. An elevator connects the two above-ground floors to a third, semi-subterranean level part of the home, which houses a workshop and hobby area, as well as a garage that can easily fit three or more cars. Out back, the villa boasts a large swimming pool and a covered pavilion, as well as an arched loggia that features a pressed tin ceiling treatment and a drop-down movie screen and projection TV system, ideal for outdoor movie nights. In addition to the Spanish-style home, DiCaprio owns several other properties in the Los Angeles area: two beachfront properties in Malibu, as well as side-by-side properties above Sunset Strip. Outside of Los Angeles, the actor also owns a celeb-pedigreed Donald Weller-designed mid-century pavilion in Palm Springs, and a number of luxury condos in lower Manhattan.
